In 2006, Dave saw the show, "La Pastorela" for the very first time at The San Diego REPertory Theatre. He was absolutely blown away by Max Branscomb's Hispanic version of the shepherds journey, escorting Maria y Jose' (Mary & Joseph) to Belen (Bethlehem) through the desert on the night before the first Christmas. After seeing the show, Dave sought out Director of La Pastorela and artistic director of Teatro Máscara Mágica (TMM), who produces the show, William Virchis. He simply had to be a part of it and those who produced the show. It wasn't until meeting fellow actor and Pastorela Devil , Rhys Green (Moloch) working on another show that Dave finally had the opportunity to meet and work with 'Bill" Virchis and Pastorela writer, Max Branscomb. Dave has gone on to perform in every Pastorela since as, "Cholo Satan" and has become a co-director, co-producer and sound designer of the show. Dave also now sits on the board of directors for Teatro Máscara Mágica. TMM was co-founded by William Virchis and Jorge Huerta in 1989 to increase the production of multicultural theatre and to provide professional theatrical opportunities to underrepresented segments of the population. Another mission of the Teatro is to subsidize ticket prices to make live theatre affordable to families and the less affluent.
